This schematic design for the Interbay-Glover YMCA located in South Tampa shows two different design solutions. The first design
completely demolishes the existing facility while building a new 60,000 square foot YMCA on the south portion of the site. The second design illustrates the possibilty of renovating the existing faciltity while remaining operational during construction as the renovation is
phased.
Both design solutions introduce the “Y” form at the entry which acts not only as a structural element but as a
beacon of entry and as a new iconic
element for the YMCA.
